Kent Bank’s train station is a short walk away so you can enjoy a journey up the west coast or pop across to the neighbouring Arnside, across the estuary, which is a short distance across the viaduct. Close by, the attractive village of Cartmel, with its ancient 12th century priory and the UK’s smallest racecourse, is known as a gastro village with the renowned L’Enclume restaurant and a selection of lovely pubs; it is also the home of the famous sticky toffee pudding which can be purchased from its artisan shop. Historical houses are also close-by, including Holker Hall, Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its world-class topiary gardens; all have superb grounds and tempting treats in their cafés. This is a perfect area for walkers and from the centre of Grange-over-Sands you can walk up Hampsfell and see a stunning, panoramic vista of Morecambe Bay in Lancashire, the wind farms of Barrow and the Lakeland hills.
