For a day out, visit the pretty market town of Barnard Castle, which is just a few miles away, and offers quaint tea rooms and antique shops along its cobbled streets. Alternatively, head further afield to the wonderful city of Durham and enjoy a wider range of amenities, including the iconic, Romanesque cathedral.
